Well... jumping in on the blog band wagon a little late but here goes something which I intend to try and be fairly regular with. Through this blog I would like to share my thoughts on things technical in nature as well as some stuff with a lighter side (my take on politics). I hope to engage with like minded people to provide myself (and hopefully others) with a much needed stimulus.
This past week saw the death of perhaps the Thomas Edison of making technology user friendly and sexy. Join me as we say good-bye to a visionary. Which brings me to the matter on discussion today, what next for Apple.
The much awaited iPhone 4S appears to be a simple performance upgrade on the old model and so very much anti Steve Jobs. Also, repackaging an existing app and calling it a platform not very innovative. However, enough of my cribbing on everything bad about Apple. What I am going to propose may seem completely blasphemous to the pro-Apple or the pro-Windows community and I would like to state that this is just my opinion.
So what do both these giants of the technology industry have to offer, Apple gives a sense of style and supreme user friendliness while the new Windows 8 platform with the Metro interface takes things to a totally different level. Now imagine if both these were to be combined the mutant that will arise I'm sure will prove to be the next thing to own. In addition Apple has tapped the Music/video industry while Microsoft is one of the dominant forces in console gaming. Imagine Apple TV on your XBox console with access to your iTunes library and with the metro interface.
Without the genius of Steve Jobs to guide the Apple ship I for one see no harm in joining hands with 'the old enemy' if you may call him that; I believe that only another visionary and marketing guru such as Bill Gates can take on such a mammoth task and continue the legacy of innovation. Competition will be provided by the ever present Google corporation who have already taken the next step and acquired Motorola in the past.
The prospects seem mouth watering from a technology perspective; would love to hear some views on the same.
